Ensure You Have the Clearance for a Truck and Trailer
Your new barn or shed will be delivered using a truck and trailer. To make sure your shed delivery is smooth and painless, we recommend you clear a path through your property from road to foundation that is at least two feet wider than the width of your structure. This space gives our team enough clearance to move your shed to its intended site.
Height is another important consideration when asking how sheds are delivered. Do you have the necessary vertical clearance to allow a truck and trailer through your property? Be sure to clear the site of any vertical obstacles as well, such as trees and limbs. Note that rent-to-own barns cannot be placed on sites requiring access through neighboring properties. Additionally, placement under power lines is strongly discouraged and may be prohibited by local regulations. For rent-to-own barns, placement under power lines is not permitted.
Built On-Site
If your property or access is not suitable for a pre-built barn, you may opt to build your shed right on the final site. This can be a longer process since it requires our team to travel to your location to do the work.
It also comes with a few restrictions. Due to specific limitations, we are unable to paint, stain, or apply any treatments to build on-site barns, as this could result in overspray issues. Additionally, build-on-site barns cannot be sold through rent-to-own contracts or our COD program, which requires full payment upfront at the time of purchase using certified funds (personal checks are not accepted). Lastly, refunds cannot be offered for build-on-site barn purchases.
When Will My New Barn Be Delivered?
Your storage barn delivery timeline depends on the type of purchase. If purchased from a dealer's sales lot, delivery typically occurs within 5 to 10 business days after our home office approves the sale. For build-to-order barns, delivery usually takes 3 to 4 weeks. However, factors beyond our control, such as seasonal demand, weather, or ground conditions, may impact these timeframes.
How Much Does It Cost for Delivery of My Barn?
Delivery and setup are free within a 50-mile radius of the dealer's location. For distances exceeding 50 miles, a mileage fee will apply, calculated based on the width and delivery location of your shed. See your dealer for details.
Additionally, you must remove any obstacles, such as tree limbs, debris, or fences, before delivery. Failure to do so may result in a fee for unsuccessful delivery attempts. While we take every precaution to ensure safe delivery, we, along with our affiliates, cannot be held responsible for damage caused by pre-existing ground conditions or obstacles outside of our control.
If delivery cannot be completed due to obstacles or unsuitable site conditions, a failed delivery fee may apply. Please consult with your dealer to ensure your site meets all requirements.
Site Preparation
When you buy a new shed, site preparation is minimal. If the site is no more than three feet out of level in any direction, no preparation is needed. For sites up to one foot out of level, we provide free wood leveling blocks.
For sites exceeding one foot out of level, the customer must supply concrete blocks. We offer free installation of these blocks to level the barn. However, the blocks need to be on hand at the time of the delivery, and additional fees of $150 per layer apply for further concrete blocking beyond the level point.
Furthermore, it is the customer's sole responsibility to obtain any necessary permits or fulfill legal requirements related to the purchase or rental of a Prairie Built Barn.
